Dr. Tom McDougal works with staff who are known for their gentle touch and friendly attitude. Most of our team members have served in the dental field for more than 25 years, and many have been here for more than 25. For you the patient, this means you couldn't be in more experienced hands. Tom M. McDougal, D.D.S.

After Dr. McDougal earned a Bachelors degree from Oklahoma State University and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor University College of Dentistry, he served in the US Air Force Dental Corps for two years. In 1970, he opened his private dental practice in Richardson, Texas.

Dr. McDougal has served on the faculty at the world-renowned Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida, where he taught other dentists from around the world. He has served as the president of the Dallas County Dental Society and the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration. Dr. McDougal is a member of the Texas and American Dental Associations, and the Academy of Dentistry International. He is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists and the Academy of General Dentistry. He served for 15 years on the board of directors of the LD Pankey Foundation, which is world re-known for its continuing education courses attended by dentists. Since he is so great at what he does, he teaches other dentists the managerial, technical and practice management aspects of dentistry at a variety of dental meetings in the United States, Canada and Japan. Locally, he volunteers his services at Kiwanis Wesley Dental Center, a dental clinic for indigent children.

Dr. McDougal is married to Janet Ruschhaupt McDougal and together they have three daughters, Dianne, Mary Beth, and Laura, and two grandchildren. His hobbies include golf, hunting, motorcycling, and aerobically exercising. He is a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church.

Chad J. Capps, D.D.S.

Dr. Chad Capps Joins Team McDougal

Many of you have had the opportunity to meet our new doctor, Chad Capps. Dr. Capps was hand selected by Dr. McDougal to become his partner and joined us in late June, 2008. Dr. Capps is an honors graduate from Texas A&M University, Magna Cum Laude, completing his studies with a bachelor of science degree in biology and minoring in business administration. He attended Baylor College of Dentistry graduating in the top 10% of his class. Dr. Capps received a Baylor College of Dentistry Academic Scholarship and maintained the Dean’s Honor Roll throughout his academic career. Dr. Capps was also named Clinical Honor Student and a member of the Odontological Honor Society. To highlight a few of his professional affiliations, Dr. Capps was President of the American Student Dental Association and was the Baylor College of Dentistry representative to the Texas Dental Association to which he also maintains membership. Additionally, he is a member of the Dallas County Dental Society and the American Dental Association. Dr. Capps was also a member of the Xi Psi Phi Dental Fraternity.

Dr. Capps was born and raised in Crandell, Texas, and has strong family ties to this area. “The family ranch was a huge factor in shaping me as a person. I learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and discipline”. When asked when and why did he want to become a dentist, Dr. Capps states, “I knew from a young age I wanted to be in one of the health professions, and dentistry just fit my personality because you can build wonderful and unique relationships with people over time.”

Since his arrival, Dr. Capps has felt very welcome and appreciative of those patients he has already met. “I am eager to meet everyone and want each person to introduce themselves so I can get to know them and in turn serve them better.” His college professors as well as supporting staff all commented that Dr. Capps has an innate gift for dentistry and a very kind and caring disposition.

Dr. Capps looks forward to meeting each of you. If you have any questions regarding your oral health, he is very knowledgeable of the latest health studies, technology and statistics discussing dental problems and treatment. He is very easy to visit with and is always available to serve you and your family.

Anastacia Durone - Practice Manager

Anastacia has served in dental practice management for over 10 years. A former engineer from Hewlett-Packard, Anastacia has experience in marketing, recruiting, finance and administrative systems. She came to dentistry through working for a dentist aiding in marketing and finance. She took an interest in the science of dentistry and has enjoyed the last 10 years helping patients and team members understand the sometimes complex fundamentals of dentistry and the business of dentistry.
