Dr. Tom McDougal works with staff who are known for their gentle touch and friendly attitude. Most of our team members have served in the dental field for more than 20 years, and many have been here for more than 20. For you the patient, this means you couldn't be in more experienced hands. Tom M. McDougal, D.D.S.

After Dr. McDougal earned a Bachelors degree from Oklahoma State University and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor University College of Dentistry, he served in the US Air Force Dental Corps for two years. In 1970, he opened his private dental practice in Richardson, Texas.

Dr. McDougal has served on the faculty at the world-renowned Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida, where he taught other dentists from around the world. He has served as the president of the Dallas County Dental Society and the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration. Dr. McDougal is a member of the Texas and American Dental Associations, and the Academy of Dentistry International. He is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists and the Academy of General Dentistry. He served for 15 years on the board of directors of the LD Pankey Foundation, which is world re-known for its continuing education courses attended by dentists. Since he is so great at what he does, he teaches other dentists the managerial, technical and practice management aspects of dentistry at a variety of dental meetings in the United States, Canada and Japan. Locally, he volunteers his services at Kiwanis Wesley Dental Center, a dental clinic for indigent children.

Dr. McDougal is married to Janet Ruschhaupt McDougal and together they have three daughters, Dianne, Mary Beth, and Laura, and two grandchildren. His hobbies include golf, hunting, motorcycling, and aerobically exercising. He is a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church.

Sarah A. Tevis, D.D.S.

Dr. Tevis is a graduate of Texas Tech University and earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She also spent her residency there in Advanced Education in General Dentistry where she acquired skills in the following: IV/Oral Conscious Sedation, difficult restorative cases, surgical procedures (extractions, implants, periodontal procedures), aesthetic dentistry (teeth whitening, veneers, and gum-lifts). She has also received advanced training in prosthetic dentistry. Dr. Tevis is a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology (ADSA) and a Diplomate of The National Dental Board of Anesthesiology (NDBA).

Dr. Tevis is a member of many prestigious dental organizations including the American Dental Association (ADA), the Texas Dental Association (TDA), the Dallas County Dental Society (DCDS), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), American Association of Women Dentists, Christian Medical and Dental Association, Texas Women’s Dental Association, and the American Association of Dental Research. She is on the Board of Directors for the National Foundation of Ectodermal Dyspasias (NFED) – a foundation to help families with a genetic disorder affecting teeth, and she is also on the Board of Directors of The Friends of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR). She is nationally known for her contributions to the dental field and her dedication to continuing education and staying current with dental trends and technology.

Dr. Tevis received the “Remarkable Woman Award” from Johnson & Johnson in 2003 for her contributions to health and science. As a result, she appeared on ABC’s “The View” with Barbara Walters.

Dr. Tevis has remained very active in her community by doing charity dentistry for dental clinics and low income schools. Between 1999 and 2002, she took annual dental missions trips to Mexico with the Christian Medical and Dental Society.

In addition to her passion for dentistry, Dr. Tevis enjoys traveling, running, cooking, photography, sailing and mountain biking.
