Patient Care Services and Periodontal (Gum) Disease

Our hygienists are highly skilled and trained in using the latest technology in preventing and treating periodontal disease. The Florida Probe software allows us to give you a full-page color printout of periodontal charting showing your pocket depth and bleeding points, which are the areas of infection. We store this information in our computer so we can keep track of your periodontal health. We offer non-surgical periodontal treatment to patients with moderate periodontal disease. We believe that prevention of disease is by far superior to the elimination of disease. Our hygiene department also provides conventional hygiene, dental sealants, patient education, flouride treatments, counseling in preventive techniques and many other services.

Restorative and Aesthetic Services

To better serve our patients, we have an in-house laboratory. Tommy Quick, our master technician creates beautiful restorations (crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays) right here in our office. In order to save you time, Tommy is here to make any necessary adjustments instead of having to send the restorations to an outside lab. Dr. McDougal is very meticulous about the quality of every procedure, making sure the restoration is a masterpiece. Our goal is to give you the most beautiful porcelain crowns, onlays, inlays, bridges and laminates that are lifelike and beautiful.

We offer tooth-colored fillings to patients as well as gold restorations (only in the back of the mouth). Studies have shown that amalgam (metal or mercury) fillings expand and contract at a faster rate than your natural tooth structure, which can cause hairline fractures in your teeth over time. Tooth-colored fillings are made of materials that are structurally similar to your natural tooth to prevent this from occurring. They also match your natural teeth in color to create a beautiful look for your mouth.

Latest Dental Technology

Our patients receive the best dental care possible in a timely fashion. To stay on the cutting edge of dental technology, Dr. McDougal takes many continuing education courses. We use chairside computers, Diagnodent, digital imaging and sedation dentistry utilizing nitrous oxide relaxing gas as well as oral and IV sedation. We use the latest technology in sterilization because your safety is paramount. We also utilize a "vital signs monitoring device" when a patient is sedated so that we constantly record blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation and mean atrial pressure.
