Providing Porcelain Veneers for Richardson, TX

Your Answer for a Better Smile

If you’re like most adults, you’re busy meeting other people’s needs every day. Your boss, your family, your friends… but when was the last time you did something for yourself? Too often, our patients choose to live with damaged smiles, covering their mouths when they laugh or posing for photos with their lips closed tight. A lot of people dealing with the effects of a damaged smile think that cosmetic dentistry is out of reach--either too expensive or just impractical. Something only celebrities do.

Your caring dentists are here to tell you there are affordable options for restoring your smile. If broken teeth are interfering with the way you interact with the world, have you considered getting porcelain veneers? They’re an option that’s within your reach, right at our Richardson office.

What Is a Porcelain Veneer?

Veneers are custom made porcelain shells that fit and match the shape and color of your teeth. They’re fitted to cover the front surface of your teeth, dramatically improving the aesthetics of your smile by changing tooth color, size, length or length.

Am I a Good Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are an excellent option for restoring smiles that have been affected by a variety of problems. If your teeth are discolored, worn down, chipped or broken, uneven, irregularly shaped or severely gapped, there’s good news: you’re likely a perfect candidate for receiving porcelain veneers.

However, if your teeth are severely decayed, cracked or if you suffer from gum disease or gingivitis, you are likely not a great candidate for porcelain veneers, as they cannot be placed on unhealthy teeth. Additionally, if you severely clench or grind your teeth, this option isn’t the best for you, as veneers cannot withstand excessive pressure as well as natural teeth.

The number one requirement for being a good candidate for porcelain veneers, though, is simple: the desire for a beautiful, rejuvenated smile.

Porcelain Veneers Procedure

Once you decide porcelain veneers might be the option you’ve been looking for, you’ll typically have just three dental appointments at our offices for the process to be completed. The first visit is the consultation, and the next two are for the creating and fitting of your unique veneers.

During the consultation, you’ll talk openly with your dentist about your goals and what you’re trying to achieve with porcelain veneers. This appointment is crucial to getting the stunning smile you want, so don’t hold any relevant information back.

The second visit is when your dentist will begin preparing your teeth for veneers. This means removing a tiny layer of enamel from the tooth’s surface to ensure there’s enough room for the new veneer. Then your dentist will make an impression of your teeth. This is what will help us make your shells, which will then be placed in your third appointment.

To bond the shells to your natural teeth in the third appointment, your teeth are first cleaned, polished and prepared to ensure the veneer can attach firmly to the tooth. Next, a special cement is applied to the veneer, which is then placed on your tooth. After the quick application of a drying light, your dentist will check to ensure that your bite fits together well and make any necessary adjustments. Once the process is complete, you’re left with porcelain veneers that are perfectly fitted for your unique mouth.
